State Convention

convention20147.4Convention2017.1Convention.2017g Convention.2017hConvention.2017bGary Nolte and I attended the 113th Florida State Council convention at the Caribe Rolyale Hotel and Resort.  During the convention we elected a new State Deputy and delegates to represent our region at the Supreme Convention in St. Louis, MO. August 1st.Our council was able to bring home 3 trophies:  1st place in Family Activities, 3rd Place in Community Activities and 3rd Place in Council Activities.  We were in competition with 143 councils in our division.

Social Meeting

Our May Social Meeting will take place on Monday, May 22 at 7 PM in rooms 12/13.

David Harris and Ed Schmitt will be showing a slide presentation and discussing their recent trip to EWTN , the religious radio and TV stations.  Many pictures of the facilities founded by Mother Angelica.

Tootsie Roll Drive

Our next Tootsie Roll drive will be Friday and Saturday, June 2 and 3 at the Publix at Bayside Lakes.  We need volunteers for both days.  The hours are 9 AM to 9 PM.

Council Family Picnic

Our council family picnic is on Sunday, June 4 from 11 AM until 5 PM.  The location is Fisherman’s Landing in Grant.  From the church, go East to U.S. # 1.  Turn right ( South) on U.S. 1 and follow for 6.5 miles.  Fisherman’s Landing is on the left side of the road ( river side).  The council will provide the Hot dogs and hamburgers and drinks.  We are asking each family attending to please bring a dish to share.  We will have games as well.

If you want to fish from the pier, you will need a recreational shore license which can be gotten at Bass Pro Shop and Academy Sports ( possibly Wal-Mart) or you can get one on  line at www.fwc.com

Benefits Night

Join us on Thursday, April 20 in the main hall of the Servite Center to learn all about Knights of Columbus Insurance and the benefits of being a Knight.  Our Insurance agent Brian Lazusky and our General Agent Bob Gitto will be on hand to present information about Knights insurance and answer any questions you might have.  Refreshments will be available.

New Members

Welcome to our new council members:  Fredo Santiago, John Hooi, Esperant Edourd, Todd White, Dr. Joven Garcia,and  Ed Trotter.  When you see these gentlemen please welcome them to our council.  Offer a friendly handshake and become a friend.  As you can see our membership drive in March paid off well with the addition of these new members.  We also had two brothers….Tom Duffy and Art Tostaine make their 2nd degree and will make the Knighthood degree on Sat. April 8.  Congratulations to both these Knights on their accomplishments.

 

First Degree & Business Meeting

Brother Knights, On Thursday, April 6 we will hold an Admission Degree at 6:30 PM in the main hall of the Servite Center.  This will be a video presentation.  Following the degree ceremony we will have our April business meeting.  Please try to attend both and show support for our new members.

Founders Day

Wednesday, March 29 was Founders Day.  The council celebrated by having a Mass said for all the deceased members of our council.  The names of our deceased brothers were read during the Prayers of the Faithful…A reception was held immediately following Mass and widow of our deceased brothers received a V.I.P. Card, allowing them Free Admittance to council events e.g. dinners, dances, etc.

Gaelic and Garlic Dinner Dance

A great time was had by all….the food ( Corned Beef & Cabbage for the Irish and Baked Ziti for the Italian) was great and complimented by Italian Wedding Soup, Potato Soup and Irish Bread Pudding.  Not to mention the song stylings of our favorite Irishman Bobby Kelley.  It was the first time we combined efforts with the Knights form Fr.
